Kathryne Genevieve Honey (she/they) is an artist and curator living as a guest on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people in Ngár-go, Naarm. They are currently completing a Masters at The University of Melbourne, with the thesis topic: Embracing Empathy: Developing love centred curatorial strategies to enact change. Honey is on the Board of Trustees at CAVES, Melbourne. Honey’s previous roles include Assistant Curator at The Australia Centre for Contemporary Art where she helped produce the exhibition Paul Yore: WORD MADE FLESH, Mithu Sen: mOTHERTONGUE and the 2022 Macfarlane Commission Like a wheel that turns. Previous to this she worked as the General Manager at un Projects, Co-Director of Bus Projects, Development Coordinator at Chisenhale Gallery, London, and Gallery Manager at Sutton Gallery

Projects she has curated have been exhibited both locally and internationally, including at Frieze London, LA Contemporary, and Ho Biennale.

As an artist, her artworks have been exhibited nationally including at Daine Singer, Sutton Projects, the Centre for Contemporary Photography, and the Queensland Centre for Photography. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2013.

In her artworks Honey combines disparate imagery and materials to create eclectic photographic based works. Honey plays with the history of photography through visual distortion and modes of image reproduction. Resembling fossils swallowed by earth, her sculptures endlessly register the passing of time represented in a state of forced stagnation. Honey’s works create a disarming effect—one that belies a quiet and contemplative aesthetic.
